August 2019 - Outing to Powis Castle

Fifty members, relatives and friends enjoyed a lovely visit to Powis Castle near Welshpool. The weather was bright and sunny and the gardens looked stunning in the sunshine. There was also a lot to see in the house with the addition of an exhibition to showcase how the castle was used as a girls' school during WW11. An excellent day out, and we thank Anne for organising it.

February 2019 - Monthly Meeting

At our February meeting we had a talk by Lesley from the Socks and Chocs charity. Socks and Chocs is a charity which was set up in Birmingham in 2010 to help the homeless. Lesley told us how the charity began and talked about some of the people she had met and helped during her time with them. In all we collected 62 pairs of socks as well as a lot of chocolate for the charity.

November 2018 Remembrance Day in Chaddesley Corbett

Members of our Craft Group spent several evenings making poppies for a display in St Cassian's church as part of the Remembrance Day commemoration of the centenary of WWI. Anne Stickley made our poppy wreath which was placed on the war memorial in the village. After the service our WI provided and served refreshments in the church.

November 2018 - 98th Birthday Party

Over 60 members enjoyed a lovely birthday meeting of celebration and remembrance. Entertainment was provided by the Worcester Ukelele Club and they soon had everyone singing along with them. First World War recipes were used for the buffet to give members a taste of what people were eating around the time of our WI's formation. A wonderful evening, thanks to Sally and all the other members who helped her.
